More info

The 1946 DeSoto Suburban was a car model produced by DeSoto, an American automobile brand that was a division of Chrysler Corporation. The 1946 model year marked the end of World War II, and car production resumed after several years of focusing on wartime efforts. As a result, many car models, including the DeSoto Suburban, saw few changes from their pre-war counterparts due to the limited availability of new designs and materials.

The 1946 DeSoto Suburban was available as a four-door station wagon. and was typically powered by a 236-cubic-inch inline-six engine, which produced around 109 horsepower. This engine was mated to a three-speed manual transmission. The interior of the Suburban was spacious and could accommodate several passengers. It offered comfortable seating and was well-appointed for its time, though modern amenities and features were limited compared to contemporary cars.

Which is why it became an obvious choice to move patients as shown here in the Junction City livery.

Today Suburbans are relatively rare today, making them a sought-after collector's item among vintage car enthusiasts they are a valuable piece of automotive history that collectors and enthusiasts appreciate for its design and significance in the automotive landscape of the mid-20th century.

As an Ambulance in Junction City the DeSoto Suburban sports three red and silver spotlights as well as a siren in silver.  The dark Oxford blue bodywork is highlighted with lots of silver masking as well as silver graphics promoting its role plus a simple phone number 250 on the front doors. The interior is moulded in a softer violet blue.  The customary whitewall tyres have silver hub centres and Ambulance is registered in Oregon as 48 - 88.899.
