Ford Capri Mk 1 Blue Mink
The Ford Capri Mk I, well established in the Oxford series of classic cars of the 1960s and 1970s, is proving just as popular as its high spec cousin, the Mk III of the late 1970s, also part of our 1:76 scale range.
In real life, the Capri Mk I was manufactured by Ford Europe and designed by the company’s American designer Philip T Clark. Launched in 1958, the Capri was described as a mid-size sports car/fastback coupé and came with 4-speed manual gearbox. With its sleek lines, the two door car was an instant success, yet within the financial reach of many ordinary motorists. The MkI was assembled at the Halewood plant in the UK until 1973, when it was superseded by the Mk II.
For its fourth outing, our Capri (5.8cm in length) is decorated in a striking pale blue, a sharp contrast from the bright yellow, red and jade authentic colour schemes already on your shelf. It also sports a black bonnet and silver exterior trim. The interior is moulded in black and our Capri is registered UYD 99G from 1968/69, the first year of its introduction into the eager hands of trendy image-conscious motorists of the day.
