Standard colours of French Army vehicles since 1950s
From the beginning of 1950s French Army vehicles were painted in "Army Green", with exception of those stationed in desert regions, which used "Sahara Yellow" instead.
This standard remained until early 1990s, when instruction MAT 2636 introduced an obligatory tri-colour camouflage of Dark Green, Earth Brown and Black. The instruction also sanctioned a special scheme for desert conditions of Desert Sand and Earth Brown (used for example during Operation Daguet in Iraq in 1991) and a variant for winter conditions of White and Earth Brown.
