Living Steam can be used in two ways:
It can be placed on absorbent material placed in the room and allowed to evaporate
It can be used as a smoke oil (e.g. from model rail smoke generators) but creating additional odour.
Living steam is both non-harmful and non-flammable making it probably unique in the market place and can be sent by mail order.

Another means of adding extra realism and enjoyment to your layout operations is to add smoke to locomotives, buildings, scenic items such as camp fires and those model ships in your harbour! Whilst it is not always easy to add smoke to your locomotives, it can be quite simple to add smoke to the chimneys of buildings.

All you need is a suitable smoke generator and, of course, some smoke oil that the generator uses to produce the smoke itself. With this product from Deluxe Materials, you can add yet another dimension – that of SMELL! Yes, when in use, this smoke oil recreates that nostalgic smell of steam locomotives.

This product is not harmful and also not inflammable. Simply add a few drops when necessary into the smoke generator’s ‘chimney’ and enjoy the nostalgic odours!

Even if you do not have any smoke generators, you can dab a few drops onto some absorbent material such as cotton wool and place discretely on your layout in strategic places to achieve almost as good a result. – it will evaporate and thus recreate the smells.

If using with a smoke generator, be mindful that smoke generators should never be allowed to run dry of oil. So, when the smoke starts to thin out, add a few more drops of smoke oil.

Bear in mind also that the heating element of your smoke generator can be easily damages so if using a pipette or similar to dispense the smoke oil, do not insert this too far into the ‘chimney’.
