Rail Tracker Cleaning Kit (N & OO/HO Scale)

The Rail Tracker cleaning tool actually follows the track and hugs the rail while you clean, and makes it easy to clean hard to reach areas, like inside tunnels, around structures and under power lines.

Kit includes all you need to clean and maintain your track. Package doubles as a tray for storage. Replacement pads available. Designed to work on N, OO, HO, HOn3 and three-rail O scale track.

For the ultimate in track cleaning tools, it would be hard to beat this pack from Woodland Scenics. It has everything you need to clean the track on even the most ambitious of layouts, be it N gauge or OO/HO gauge. It can even be used to clean O gauge 3-rail track.

The kit contains;

• 1 x Rail Tracker,
• 1 x Rail Tracker Handle,
• various cleaning pads,
• 1 x 85fl oz (25.1mL) of Clean Track Solution
• and a comprehensive instruction booklet.

There is everything you need to perform regular cleaning or deep cleaning of your track.

Simply attach the cleaning pads of your choice (see below) to the Rail Tracker, place on the track and move backwards and forwards in much the same way as when using a Track Rubber. The grip of the Rail Tracker can be fixed in place, or set to allow horizontal rotation.

Some of the cleaning pads have grooves in them to make it easier to follow the track, but can be turned the other way up to present a flat surface to the track when cleaning pointwork and level crossings..

To clean under bridges and tunnels, attach the Rail Tracker Handle. This swivels in the vertical plane about 120 degrees, allowing closed-in sections of track to be easily reached, e.g. in stations having platform canopies.. Depending on what you wish to achieve, select the appropriate cleaning pads and attach them to the Rail Tracker.

They are a simple push-fit, but make sure that those that have grooves in them are positioned with the grooves face-down when cleaning plain track. For regular, say monthly, cleaning, use the light-grey Maintenance Pads. These have grooves in them to assist in staying on the track. If the track has been allowed to accumulate dirt and deposits over a longer period than, say, a month, select the dark grey Rescue Pads.

Note that whilst both the Rescue Pads and Maintenance Pads are abrasive, they are gentle enough not to damage the track.

Next, replace either of these with the dark grey felt pads that have been moistened with a couple of drops of Clean Track Solution. Use of these will also remove any oil deposits that may have accumulated on the track. Finally, attach the light grey felt pads and use these to dry off the track and thus prepare it for use by the trains! So in summary, a typical deep clean would be; Rescue Pads, Maintenance Pads, Cleaning Pads and Finishing Pads in that order.

A typical regular maintenance operation would be;

• Maintenance Pads, Cleaning Pads and Finishing Pads in that order,
• or just Cleaning Pads and Finishing Pads.
