N Point & Crossing Brown Ballasted Underlay Kit

If you are using the Gaugemaster ballasted underlay under your plain track, you will need to create matching underlay for your points and diamond crossing.

This kit contains 3 sheets of underlay, each measuring 12cm x 20cm. These are cut to the desired shape to match the point or crossing.

Start by laying the point on top of one of the foam sheets making sure there is sufficient overlap.

Ballasted Underlay

An easy way to do this is to use a scalpel or craft knife and cut around the point or crossing leaving about 2mm extra on the outside edges. That is, cut the foam about 2mm away from the edge of the sleepers.

Ballasted Underlay

Once you are happy with the shape the underlay can be covered carefully with the included ballast to match that used on your plain sections ot track.

Ballasted Underlay

The ballast should be glued down suing a suitable adhesive, taking care not to get ballast or glue trapped in the moving parts of the points and crossings.

Also available; GM205 N gauge grey ballasted underlay for points and crossings.
