Did you know that it is a popular New Year’s Eve ritual to shoot carbide in some rural parts of the Netherlands?

Calcium carbide and water are put in a traditional milk steel churn and ignited with a torch so the lid flies off the milk can with a deafening bang.

This finely detailed painted set includes two figures. One lights the fuse, while the other takes cover.

Artitec figures are each hand-painted in realistic subdued tones. Often one set requires more than ten different colors. Many of these figure sets are combined with fine etching that provides additional detailing.
