Train controller

Even if your layout is powered by DCC, you may find it convenient to have an inexpensive DC controller on the workbench. This would make it easy to test run newly-purchased locomotives prior to installing a decoder. If this unit from Hornby is connected to a rolling road, you could even perform the recommended running-in of your locomotive prior to installing a decoder. If you are running your layout on DC, this controller will do that too! Another use would be as the traincontroller in conjunction with an automatic train shuttle unit such as the Gaugemaster SS-1 It comes with a lead that is 760mm (30”) in length and which is terminated in the correct plug to fit the Hornby R8206 Power Track. The single rotary knob controls both speed and direction by supplying 0-12v to the connected track. What is NOT included is a mains transformer to provide the 16v AC input. The recommended one to use is the Hornby P9000 22-240v 50-60hz plug in transformer, however, any transformer that provides 16c AC could be used.

What gauge is this controller for? This controller is suitable for supplying the power needed to operate analogue (DC) model railway locomotives, it is compatible with the following gauges: OO gauge, N gauge, OO9 gauge and ON30 gauge. The controller will also operate any DCC ready locomotives, not to be confused with DCC fitted models which require an appropriate DCC controller.
