More info

This versatile track tester device is compatible with a range of model train track gauges, including OO gauge, HO gauge, TT gauge and N gauge. It provides an easy way to test your track layout for proper power and connectivity before running your trains.

To use the track tester, simply place the device across two pieces of track you wish to test. It will then detect what type of power is present - either the digital command control (DCC) system or traditional DC analogue power.

If DCC power is detected, the multi-coloured LED light on the tester will glow orange. This indicates your DCC system is providing the proper digital signal to that section of track.

If traditional DC power is present, the LED will light up red or green depending on the polarity. This shows which rail is carrying the positive current and which is the negative, as specified on the tester itself. It allows you to confirm the track polarity or train direction is properly set up before sending a locomotive across that section.

In addition to indicating basic power, the tracker tester can also help identify faults at connections such as track joints or points. If the LED flickers inconsistently or does not light up over a certain section, it likely indicates an improper connection or broken spot on the track. This allows you to pinpoint problem spots for repair.

With the ability to rapidly verify DCC or DC power as well as locate track connectivity issues, this versatile tester enables modellers to thoroughly test their track work and troubleshoot problems before putting trains into service. The compatibility across multiple popular track gauges makes it useful for a wide range of model railway enthusiasts.
