In contrast, Insulfrog points have a plastic insulated rail gap between the frog and the point rails. This can cause problems with power routing and result in issues such as loss of power, slow or erratic operation and lead to potential derailments.
While it is possible to use Insulfrog points on a DCC layout, it may be necessary to take additional steps such as adding extra wiring and additional switches to ensure proper power routing and reliable operation.
Therefore, it is recommended to use Electrofrog points on a DCC layout for better performance and reliability.However, the choice will ultimately depend on the personal preference of the modeller, available budget and any specific layout requirements.In the case of smaller layouts or when working with a tight budget, it may be possible to adapt the layout configuration to operation with Insulfrog points with some additional modifications.
