Hornby Railroad models are a range of locomotives and rolling stock manufactured by Hornby to be a little less delicate than their standard models.
Standard Hornby models have a similar specification and durability as those produced by other manufacturers, however, with delicate separately fitted detail and complicated valve gear mechanisms, they can be quite prone to damage should a younger enthusiast get their hands on one. Hornby's solution to this problem is their Railroad range with simpler more sturdy bodyshells.
Railroad models can still be quite convincing though, with smart liveries, a wide variety of models to choose from and a cheaper price tag, they appeal to not only younger audiences, but also modellers who are just starting out or have limited finances.
Hornby Railroad models are a good investment for those looking to bulk out their collection, need something a little more robust or they're modelling on a budget, the cheaper price tag of the models does not mean less quality, just a little less detail.
