Cleanly moulded plastic parts, clear parts, a sheet of etched parts, a decal sheet printed without offset, metal spiral springs for the undercarriage and a turned aluminium gun barrel make this kit a lot of fun to build.
No rework is to be expected, the ejection markings are in invisible areas. The clear parts, also injection moulded, are mainly required for the headlights and periscopes. The small but perfectly adequate etched parts sheet is used for the fittings on the hull and turret. Lint-free yarn for making the steel cables is also included. The armoured tracks are included here as vinyl tracks.
The origins of the Churchill Tank date back to 1939. The search was on for a replacement for the Matilda II infantry tank. The company commissioned with the development, Vauxhall, based the design of the new tank on models from the First World War. The armoured vehicle was to be able to cross the most difficult terrain and withstand heavy fire. The first prototype was completed in November 1940. By June 1941, 14 Churchill tanks had already been produced. The first combat mission took place in 1942 during the landing at Dieppe. In October 1942, six Churchill tanks took part in the Battle of El Alamein. In 1943, production was to be discontinued in favour of the successful A27 Cruiser tank. However, due to the successful battles in Africa, it was decided to continue production. A total of 5479 tanks were produced.
